About
I am a Danish self-taught artist living in Denmark (Herning). My primary interests are portraits in abstract-realism and glazing or layering (a technique used by Marc Rothko), but I am open to producing other work. I have painted for many years and have experimented with different forms of painting and techniques. I prefer to use oil-based paint which, in my opinion, provides a greater opportunity to work with a broader range of colours and their transparent layers.
My inspiration comes from a variety of different artists, both classical and contemporary. In particular, I am drawn to the portrait work of Lucian Freud and Rembrandt, especially their use of colour. In addition, I am also influenced by the work of Alberto Giacometti, and Anthony Gormley’s sculptures and the painting layering techniques used by Marc Rothko.
After completing a rough sketch of the person whom I am about to paint, I attempt to capture their inner personality and portray some of their life story in the portrait. I am alwyas intrigued by the context in which they fit into society, their strengths and what makes them who they are.
To date I have exhibited some of my work in Artrix in Bromsgrove, Birmingham, UK and in Galleri A, Lønstrup, Hjørring.
Please take a look at my work here or visit Galleri A.
